Evolve Scientific Recruitment are partnering with an exclusive co-educational school that provides students with elite teaching and learning resources, located in Ballarat Melbourne.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Laboratory Technician to join the dedicated science team and help set up a new science departmentfrom term 4.
The Collage offers specialised science classes for the year 5-12 classes with practicals every week.
The new Laboratory Technician will be problem solvers with a passion for science, who hold a relevant qualification or experience. Our client is also willing to support the right person to gain the necessary qualifications, whilst working.

This is a full-time ongoing casual role to start with, with a potential view to go long term. 

About the role / main duties:
Reporting through to the Head of Science, this role will involve:
  • Setting up, preparing and collecting materials for laboratory practical classes as required
  • Ensuring the laboratories operate in an efficient and well organised manner
  • Cleaning, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment
  • Demonstrated commitment to child safety, Safety Standards, Dangerous Goods regulations and risk assessment.
  • Maintaining and updating laboratory documentation

About you:
  • Previous experience in a high school science laboratory, although experience in TAFE/university or other environments in a similar role would be highly regarded but not a must, experince can come from laboratory experince.
  • Bachelor of Science is required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A proven good work ethic and the ability to multitask
  • An understanding of laboratory practices and OHS regulations
To be considered for this position, candidates must currently possess or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check and national Police Check.
